I have been spinning!
I bought lots of fibre at Knit Nation in July last year, in anticipation of learning to spin. And then life got so busy that it didn't happen.
Fast-forward to October, and I did a drop spindle class at Fibre Flurry with the wonderful Daniela Kloppmann. I was completely inspired, and purchased more fibre, intending to spin it up on my drop spindle. After a few goes, I was getting frustrated by the lack of speed and stop-start nature of the spindle. So when my friend Alice announced that she was off to New Zealand for the year, I jumped at the opportunity to borrow her wheel. It is a Louet S10 (I believe!) and it is so simple that I was able to get started and producing "yarn" very quickly. I put yarn in quotes as I'm not sure that those early attempts were really good enough to be called yarn!
Over the last week or so, I have started work on this lovely Babylonglegs Falkland Merino Top. It is in a Choco Berry shade, and the fibre really does look good enough to eat!
After a few evenings of spinning, I now have a bobbin-full. It is a long way from perfect, but it's a huge improvement from my early attempts!
Watch this space to see what it becomes...

Oooooh! Thats uber pretty!! :)
