I am trying something new!
Those of you who know me well, will be familiar with my lack of fidelity to my crafting projects. However, times they are a'changin.
It all started with some projects for friends that had lingered on my needles for too long. First there were the Miss Sophie's Hands (Ravelry link) gloves that I made for Sarah in Kansas. They were intended for Christmas, but didn't go in the post until late January. Then there were the socks (Ravelry link) for another Sarah, that were started in July last year, and didn't get sent off until the end of March! I started to be embarrassed by the amount of time it was taking me to get these presents finished. So I unleashed my secret weapon. Julie.
Julie is one of my friends from Frome Stitch n Bitch, and in the past she has been the voice of my conscience when I've neglected a knitting project for Jim (or "long-suffering-Jim" as my knitting group sometimes call him). She reminds me that I really should get Jim's birthday socks finished before he is another year older. And her reminders are in that perfect combination of kind, but firm, and impossible to ignore. I asked Julie to keep me on the straight and narrow with Sarah's socks, and she did a brilliant job - keeping me going with the twisted stitches when my heart was telling me that I could just cast on something easy, for a quick thrill. But the thing is, that somehow (and probably only briefly) it has stuck. On Tuesday, for example, I only took one project to knitting with me. Only one project! That's never, ever happened before. It is a whole new era of fidelity.
Lotus Yarns Cashmere DK in Pewter and Midnight.
I am being faithful to Jim's jumper. It's the Baseball Jersey (Ravelry link) from Knits Men Want, and I'm making it in Lotus Yarns Cashmere DK, which I purchased from the ever-delightful Skein Queen. And the reason that I haven't been talking about my knitting very much is that... well... it's not very interesting to talk about.
These are the front and back pieces.
The cashmere is pure pleasure to knit with - people at Stitch n Bitch, can't resist the temptation to come and fondle it while I'm knitting! But it is just basically some large pieces of stocking stitch.
I've now completed front, back and first sleeve, and I'm well through the second sleeve.
I hope to finish off both this jumper, and the quilt, over the weekend, so there may be some posting of finished objects (FOs) early next week. You never know your luck! But in the meantime, wish me patience and loyalty to my chosen project. I can't wait to cast on something new, but I have more works in progress to finish off first.
