I finished my Phloem Socks!
These socks were another result of the huge case of startitis I had between March and May (I think I'm due another any day now...).
The pattern is Phloem, by my talented friend Rachel Coopey. It was in the spring issue of Knitty, which means it's available for free - head over and cast on your own pair! I used Skein Queen Crush in the perfect shade of green for my pair, and I picked up this lovely yarn at Marmalade Yarns - my local yarn shop.
The stitch pattern features leaves and variations on ribbing which are very reminiscent of the shape of the phloem tissue found in plants (they are the vessels that transport sugar solution around plants). Although the pattern isn't easy, it has a good flow to it. After the first sock I was just using the chart for prompting, rather than haveing to check it for every stitch. It's the benefit of a pattern that is based on a structure of ribs.
So... what will my next pair of socks be? Or shall I cast on something different now?
